Merchandising via CafePress.com

Post by clem »

Hi,

A new shop was opened and a few t-shirts / polo / sweat-shirts are available:

http://www.cafepress.com/linuxmint

For each item bought $5 go to Linux Mint and the rest to CafePress.com.

If there are items you would like to see added to the shop or changes in the design of some already listed items please tell us.

Have fun,

Clem.

Hello Clem , the cap with logo small i letters please.

Golf-shirt and Sweatshirt , i like above all the letters of the back

What comments Luna on the Mouse pad is a good idea.

T-shirt as well it says Ede the logo is too large.

On the quality of the stickers to my they have left me perfectly :D

This is great guys! I'm so happy to see Linux Mint becoming ever more popular. It really is the best distribution out there!

Calumc: as big as possible (I can reduce the size but if it's too small there's nothing I can do). Also, I'm using a free cafepress account and they restrict some of the features... I can only have one design per item type so I need to remove the mousepad with the logo if I want to add another mousepad. It's no big deal, just let me know anyway.

Well I know what I'm going to wear next week.. I just impulsively bought half of the store :) I got a cap, a golf shirt, the 3 t-shirts, a mug and a mousepad :)

Watch out for the shipping cost (it's not included in the price, it's added when you check out) especially for international shipping. It's probably cheaper if you live in the US. There's a voucher of $5 coming with the order but considering the shipping you're better off buying everything you're interested in in one go and just ignore the voucher.

calumc: Can you make a 500x500 picture with transparent background and mintytux on it (using the whole width-height of the picture).

Cool! I got mine ... first order that is. The coffee cup idea is great and who doesn't want another ball cap? :)

Calumc: I created a shop on spreadshirt http://205893.spreadshirt.net and in cafepress I added a t-shirt with mintytux on it.

I agree, the prices are very high. Unfortunately there's little we can do, most of the money goes to cafepress and we only add $5 to it. If we were to buy bulk tshirts and sell them ourselves we'd probably be able to sell them for $7 or $8, maybe $10 with shipping... we have the money to do this and to get some stock but it would take time to take orders, ship things out... and it's not something we want to spare our time doing :)

Eventually we might do that as once-offs, maybe just take names and take pre-orders and ship everything at once... or if we ever organize an event or a meeting, give away merchandising or sell them on site for very cheap.

The price here is quite high but the advantage is simple: we don't have to spend time on it, cafepress deals with orders, shipping and all the things we don't want to waste time doing. They're expensive but it's hassle free. So definitely not the cheapest way to get branded tshirts but one of the only ways where it doesn't involve us actively waste time away from developing the distro ;)
