Update fluxbox version

Post by alex555 »

Hello everyone.

The current version of fluxbox is based on Linux mint 9 Isadora. KDE, Gnome, LXDE and XFCE users already have their 13 version of the kernel and applications.
When will they update fluxbox version ? That's my favorite GUI and I didn't manage to add fluxbox packages on KDE version (i didn't manage to open the GUI after installation). It would be much easier if we could have a new version.

I installed linux mint fluxbox on my ZOTAC nanoplus RADEON 6310, i'm currently using it to type this post, and although i installed ATI drivers and tried every command and packages i've found on several forums, there is no sound. And i can't open the ATI Catalyst Center, even through root user.

Here is my audio device :

00:01.1 Audio device: ATI Technologies Inc Device 1314
00:14.2 Audio device: ATI Technologies Inc SBx00 Azalia (Intel HDA) (rev 40)

Fluxbox is not only suitable for old computer, it also provide a quick and easy interface for those who care about speed and like light GUI, please don't forget us !

The developers have refocussed their efforts, providing Linux Mint with MATE, Cinnamon, KDE and Xfce editions (LMDE supports all these except KDE). Fluxbox and LXDE editions are no longer developed, as the developers don't have the resources to also support these. The decision on which editions to go forward with on Linux Mint was based on feedback from users in the desktop environment poll (http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.p ... 3&t=100787).

Does that mean there never will be a Fluxbox edition? No. For example, Schoelje has created a respin of LMDE, creating the unnofficial LMDE KDE edition: http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=61&t=106426. Another user could step up and create an unofficial Linux Mint Fluxbox edition. Clem has shared how you can respin the Linux Mint ISO images to customize them to fit your needs, here: http://community.linuxmint.com/tutorial/view/918.
