After your first post my searching found only a reference to dual monitor setup - the situation being that the first monitor was considered to be one instance of the compositor running(sorry I can't find the link). This is either a new bug or there is a simple setting fix. Either way, I think if you file a ticket you should get it resolved.

Update: I am having a problem with nothing showing up on Applications hover (Mate) - have to go to Menu Settings and select Mate Applications. Will install 13 and see if it happens there too.

I'll do that after the weekend, when the house is quiet again. :P

I had that issue as well. Google-Fu saved me on that one. :)

Now that Enlightenment E17 has been officially released, any chances of seeing an Enlightened Mint release ;-)?

nemeas> One should never say never but for now the Mint developers are limiting efforts on a few main releases - and doing a wonderful job at it.
To use the stable release of E17 add ppa:efl/trunk and install E17. Mate users will have to select enlightenment applications for anything to show in menus - because of the way Mate is setup Enlightenment does not automatically find the menu list. Previous versions from other PPAs should be purged first. This will supply the basic official and stable E17.

As of today the nightly ppa:hannes-janetzek/enlightenment-svn has been fixed and is building properly. For the more adventurous - as it marches on toward E18. By using this PPA it is possible to easily install the unofficial extras for example the dock Engage; Cairo-dock can work but not very well as E treats it as a window and if you like tiling it will end up all over the place. Things like ecomorph - compiz cube etc. can also be installed from there - just to list a few.

So maybe there are one or two Mintians using E - enjoy!

Looks like I haven't posted here in a while so I thought I would make a little update as the same people that were not interested in E17 may be not interested in E18. Things are changing in the e-world - there is actually talk of having a release schedule. Well there was already a release schedule; the first commits for the current version were in December of 2000 and the any-day-expected-release of Enlightenment 0.17 (aka E17) was December of 2012. Thanks to the financial backing of Samsung Electronics this release schedule (if there is one) will be much shorter and start to have numbers more like your favorite browser. For a look at the early goals of E18 have a look at the slide show at the end of this Phoronix article, and more recently a good post from the E18 Release Manager. So any day now, but the tradition has been to add another week every time someone asks when - so don't ask. Trying to keep the details S&S because they are in the links or links from the links and hopefully for no one it is TL;DR. I have been using E17 with Mint Xfce exclusively without problems while my experiences with Cinnamon and MATE have not been so perfect. I hope that love affair continues with the release of E18 and beyond. When there is more info about updating I will add it here.

Installed Enlightenment E18 from source to satisfy a curiosity (using Mint15Xfce). Overall it was disappointing as it does not give the impression of polished and fully functional release. In a brief test I was unable to get Systray to function properly (showed multiple stacked icons). The shelf(panel) set to invisible shows a shadow outline. Some utility windows opened stretched and larger than the screen without a resize option. First-run wizard crashes with a WSOD (still!!). Unable to easily change individual app icons anymore. Compositing has some new compiz type options but did not function. Just don't think I will be migrating from my 0.17.3 any time soon.

A screenie of my E18 test.
