E17 - no menu entries for applikation...

Post by oldshat »

Hi,

i want to add the E17 desktop to my system.

After installing it, the appmenu is not filled with my apps ... its total empty...

Trying to add an app manually (favorites) shows also no result...

I deleted the .e folder and restarted - no result...

I have Mint 15 with MATE installed...

Are there any ideas for me - thank you

greetings
P.

Mate caja rules the desktop I found out when I boot into my fluxbox desktop. Your application menu file should be in ~/.config somewhere.

Code: Select all

locate e17
should find it I guess.

Why did you delete
I deleted the .e folder
Just to give you a idea of what I mean about caja file manager ruling different Window Managers or Desktop Enviorments.

Hello,

i deleted the .e folder, because then e17 creates a new one - a form of reset...

In the .config folder i do not know how to find an app-menu which i can use for e17...

I have no idea, how to make e17 work.

I have this problem on 2 computers !

Perhaps e17 - not from the linux-mint repo - is not compatible to mint...

Hi oldshat> You don't say anything about your setup but my guess would be you started with a MATE environment because I noticed that happened also as the menu is not located where E17 expects to find it. Also no mention of which E17 version. If the suggestion given by rokytnji is not good for you try this:
l-click on desktop>Settings>Settings Panel>Menus>Menu Settings>Applications and choose one (try Enlightenment).

Been using Enlightenment with Mint Xfce for over a year with zero problems.

Pat

Edit: oops brain gas - I re-read and see you did say MATE. BTW shortcut to the Menu Settings would be "Run Everything" and enter Menus - Didn't want to overwhelm.

Hi oldshat> You are welcome - good to hear when something works and not the opposite.
