screensaver no lock after suspend and hibernate on laptop

hello folks,

i would like to clarify if the problem that i am facing with my laptop is something particular or other people are having similar problems.

it seems that the screensaver does not lock automatically when the laptop suspends or hibernates.

i have installed all available updates and upgrades, but it does not correct my issue.

is there a solutions for this? such as a configuration that i should manually apply?

I think that Cinnamon Settings => Screensaver and Lock => Checking the "Require my password when waking from suspend" does it.

i have already defined the settings in that way.
but the problem is that when i shut the laptop - i expect it to suspend

and it does that

but when i open the lid, i find the laptop open for me to use without prompting me for my password.

so it is a SECURITY RISK from my point of view.
as i am forced to lock the laptop manually everytime.

it seems that other people are experiencing similar problems.
