Yep and alsamixer is already here...

Considering volume applets like Volwheel, I never understood why do people need this...
Having an application hogging 5~10MB of RAM just to change volume once in a while ?
Once I've set up the PCM & Master volume in order to avoid distorsion, I basically never change it.
Every audio app, Flash video player, external speaker and so on has it's own volume management, so why bother ?
Want to quickly mute sound ? Assign a keystroke to

Code: Select all

amixer -q set Master toggle
and you're all set !
Kill VolWheel !

I'm using a hotkey that starts alsamixer. So I can easily set the sound on a kind of gui, and don't have an applet running for that all the time.

I know this has been changed already, just thought I would say it works much better after I replaced the tint2rc with the one from CrunchBang

I think the original panel's perfectly adequate, works natively, and looks fine. Tint2 has some plugins, I guess, but nothing too awesome.

Really, to justify Tint2, you do have to consider openbox.
