Posted: Sat Mar 03, 2012 9:23 am
Dear All,
Thank you very much to Linux Mint LXDE Devs for the long awaited LXDE release.
I am planning to permanently install Mint LXDE on my HP mini netbook.
Just now, I tried the LXDE - RC through live USB and found that my wireless usb adapter TP Link TL-WN822N doesn't work.
The adapter recognized via lsusb:
But it never connect to the internet.
Then I checked folder /lib/firmware, here is the result:
We can see that there are two firmware driver, they are:
and
According to : http://linuxwireless.org/en/users/Drivers/ar9170 explained that:
"ar9170usb is a GPL driver for the Atheros 802.11n USB chipset (AR9170). This driver is deprecated and it was deleted on Linux 3.0, replaced by carl9170."
I am not the expert, but I think this duplicated driver make my usb wireless does not work. I also tried Lubuntu 12.04 Beta 1 and experienced that the usb wireless works. And there was only carl9170 in folder /lib/firmware.
carl9170 newest driver explained here : http://linuxwireless.org/en/users/Drive ... Firmware-1
CMIIW as I am only guessing. I do really hope my wireless adapter work so I can install Mint LXDE on my netbook.
Thank you.
