Gnome to LXDE :D [solved]

Post by Calerid »

Hello,

I currently am running the Linux mint 11 GDM variant on my desktop. I installed the LXDE version on my netbook and I really like it. Is there a way without a fresh install to get the Linux mint LXDE desktop on my desktop? I have the LXDE desktop, not the Mint setup of it though. Thanks for you're time :D!

If I understand correctly, you have Mint 11 with Gnome2 installed and want to change the desktop to LXDE. Just install LXDE from Synaptic or via the Terminal.
I installed (using Synaptic) xde,l lxappearance-obconf, lxtask and vlc-plugin-pulse into a Mint 12 64-bit Gnome 3 environment, rebooted choosing LXDE as desktop and everything worked nicely. For more details see http://douwil7.100webspace.net/linux/lubuntu.htm.

Okay, thank you very much. After looking around some more I am thinking of just doing the backup and restore/ installing 12 with LXDE as desktop. Thank you!
