My attempt to translate;

Hello, let me present myself, I am Mario H and although I have not been in the community of Linux Mint's for a long time, I would like to start to collaborate with small script that I have already been developing for a couple of weeks, which I have based on the script of ubuclean.

What is the use of this script?

To give mint a good cleaning.

Installing Linux Mint for my first time, I could see that the installation was not absolutely clean, leaving behind remainders of, for example, Rhythmbox since mint comes with amarok (gnome), evolution because of Thunderbird, and this among other things like languages packs, old kernels, orphaned libraries, and more.

We must also consider that each time that we install and later uninstall something else, we are left with the dependencies or libraries required by that program, we are not eliminating them entirely. and they are occupying space on our disc.

It is necessary to consider, cleaning or not, it does not affect our dear Linux at all. since these already are not being used, nevertheless they take up precious space on our Hard disk

Okay, what this script does is to take advantage of aptitude to clean everything that we no longer use, and deborphan is in charge to eliminate all the orphaned libraries that are no longer used.

The process is this:

It verifies if we have installed deborphan, if we don't it installs it.
It removes dependencies and libraries that are no longer used (By aptitude)
It cleans Cache of apt (the unloaded packages that it stores in the folder temp)
It removes old old configuration files
It removes Kernels
It eliminates orphaned libraries and Archives (it only uses deborphan for this step) (the script gives the option to skip this step)
It emptys the recycling bins (ROOT and users)

Altogether during my tests. in clean installations:
It freed about 647mb in its first go
in Ubuntu about 308mb

This was proven during 3 weeks and some more, in different places and by different people. Fortunately, without finding problems.

I left the file at the end of this post.

In order to use it they only must give permission to execute the file once extracted, and in a terminal typing /limpiar.sh is recommended once.

Use Responsibly.

NOTE: for those who do not like to use deborphan, the script allows them to omit that step.

WOW sounds great, nice idea to work all the disk space saving utilities in one easy convenient app.

Altogether during my tests. in clean installations:

Just wondering though.. how well has this been tested for bugs, freeing up 308mb for a clean ubuntu installation thats freaking huge! thats almost half the cd! there has to be some reason why ubuntu wouldn't already do this isn't there?

PS -- I tried this script under Ubuntu 9.04 with an Ext4FS. Don't do it -- you'll crash your PC solid. Ext4 has a bug with the kernel Ubuntu uses. When the next version comes out it should be fine.
