Please help! Ethernet not working on ADMtek NC100

Postby Arjai on Mon May 14, 2012 1:07 pm

I installed Mint Lisa via a CD I burned. All went well until I rebooted, after install. It booted up fine but my 'Wired Connection' would not connect. I looked at the MAC address it was using, then did an 'ifconfig -a' and the results were identical to the wired settings MAC.

I've replaced the, working, cat-5 cable, twice. The cable is plugged into a Netgear router but, I have it plugged into no.3, it's not lit like my other wired connections.

The RJ-45 on the computer shows solid green and orange LED's, which leads me to believe it is functional, it was during install. I tried a couple of reboot's with no better results.

I'm sure there is an answer to this but, I am clueless. It's my first toe-dip into a Linux OS. I wanted to set this old P4 E-machines up as a full-time cruncher and Linux, I was told, runs WCG/BOINC more efficiently than Windows. Plus, I have a few online and offline friends that love it, i.e. Ubuntu. I chose Mint because of the age of the machine and on the recommendation of another Cruncher with a P4 computer.

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

Can you run the following command from the terminal, and share the output here? Will tell us a bit about your network chip.
Code: Select all
inxi -SNxc 0

Linux Mint 14 Nadia / 64-bit / Cinnamon
