Apologies I misread your post as a wireless issue. Mintwifi is in the /usr/lib not the /lib folder, but what version of mint is this (inxi -S)?
As for your ethernet connection, how is the pc connected to the internet? If via an adsl modem then you need to setup a dsl connection with the account name and password - press Alt+F2 and run
nm-connection-editor.
For the wifi you need to know which Broadcom chipset is in use (inxi -N), then refer to
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WifiDocs, but if you get the wired connection working you can just use the Additional Drivers tool.
