Internet problem

Postby LinuxMintPup on Sun Jul 22, 2012 8:21 am

Hello! I've just started using Linux Mint for the first time and i seem to have a problem trying to connect to the internet.

No matter what connexion i choose in "network options" it does not seem to let me connect.

I've installed Linux Mint 13 Cinnamon x32 on a 20GB partition.

Also i'm using a fiberlink internet connexion witch needs an id and a password to work.

I need help trying to establish my internet before i move on to more complicated stuff...

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

I was having the same problem. I am not sure where I read it because I have done so many different things, but I narrowed it down to one thing that actually worked for me.

Open terminal & type
sudo dhclient eth1
(or whatever eth you need; in my case it was 1 because eth0 doesn't work)

That was it. I am now online. There is one problem with this though. My network manager icon still shows that I am not connected. Go figure?

I hope this helps you.
