Can't connect to my wired internet connection

Hi,

I just installed a copy of Linux Mint 14, and I seem to have lost my wired internet connection with it. I do, however, still have a wireless connection.

I'm wondering if anyone knows what may be the cause of the problem because I've encountered the same problem in the past with ubuntu OS's. I remember the problem with the ubuntu OS having to do with missing headers, but ultimately, is there anyway to prevent the problem from occuring? I can't understand why I only have this problem with linux OS's and not windows OS's.

Any help is appreciated.

Brian

Please show us the results of the following two commands

Code: Select all

nm-tool
and

Code: Select all

cat /etc/network/interfaces
Also, it may be helpful to know if you are running Cinnamon, MATE, or something else.
