Doing a 1GB transfer from a Windows 7 Pro network drive (1000 mips, ethernet) to Mint started of great, copying 100MB in short order (about 1 minute) to the SSD mdadm RAID 1 drives on Mint 14. And then things went downhill. The next 100MB took about 5times as long, and the next 100 MB was still in labor after 15 minutes.
Is this a know problem?

Re: Computer to Computer File Transfers Are Slow
Short answer, no.
Longer-ish answer, not that I know of at least. I'm running a file server and the transfers work about the same from both Linux and Windows clients. You can test throughput with a server-client tool like iperf (jperf if you want a GUI).

Re: Computer to Computer File Transfers Are Slow
Thanks for your feedback. We only have SSD drives on the system and wondered if there was some sort of issue with caching on them.
