Hello,

i have a Sabertooth 990fx R2.0 motherboard with a RTL8111F.
The r8169 drivers is working but not greatly, sometimes it crash when i use bittorrent client or direct connect client.
Maybe when a lot of connections are used, don't know.

I tried the installation of the driver r8168 from realtek and it didnt work,
the card use the module, the configuration of the card is ok (ip,netmask, broadcast)
but when i try to ping some computer on my network i can't reach them, localhost included (it works fine with the r8169).

Here is different information for the r8169 crash :

When the crash appear i have to reboot ( hmm i'm just thinking that maybe just reloading the module kernel may works, if yes i can make this automated but it's not a great solution).

The problem seems to be more complex, i disabled the RTL8169 in bios and installed an old chipset RTL8139 but the crash appear again without any crash report this time.

Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL-8139/8139C/8139C+ (rev 10)
Kernel driver in use: 8139too

That trace you posted looks rather like a kernel bug than a bug in a specific card/driver. Could you try installing kernel updates from Synaptic Package Manager: Status > Installed (upgradeable), then right-click linux-headers and linux-image > mark for upgrading. Then please click Apply at the top and reboot. Then you may need to either uninstall or reinstall r8168 if you want the onboard ethernet working again.

Arf, thanx a lot but in fact i have re-installed Mint Mate 13.
I'll install Mint 14 in an other partition later and see if the problem re-appear if you need
