e1000e driver hardware unit hang

Postby musicman_234 on Fri Dec 06, 2013 1:15 am

I'm having a strange problem with my wired ethernet. This is a new intel system with I218-V ethernet adapter. Problem: It basically dies every few minutes. I definitely can't do any effective file copying over the wired interface. I looked in dmesg log, and it says the ethernet experienced a hardware unit hang.

Code: Select all

This "hardware unit hang" phrase is all over the 'net, and is apparently root-caused and fixed in driver version 2.5.4 (this from sourceforge.net). modinfo tells me I'm using e1000e version 2.5.4-NAPI. So i'm not sure what' going on. I don't see a lot of people complaining about this problem, so figure I'm unique in this somehow. I'm just at a loss as to how to debug this, becuase I'm not a Linux expert. By the way, this is Linux Mint 15.

help, please?
