Connecting to Wired Network problem

Post by dnmint »

I have dual boot XP & Mint.
I connect to Internet thru Belkin Router.
I find that of late the Wired Network connection does not connect in Mint if loaded first.
If I boot into XP first it connects. Then as I restart & boot into Mint, it connects.
Connection info
Interface Ethernet eth0
Speed 100 Mbps
Driver r8169
Ipadd etc as per Belkin

Any reason? Any help?
Thanks

I've seen this kind of behaviour before with wireless devices where the firmware is loaded from the drivers, and occasionally has to be booted into windows
to get the firmware to load correctly and then into Mint to get it to work, but I haven't ever seen it with a wired ethernet device before ?

What version of Mint are you using and what is the make and model of the ethernet device ?

Mike.
