Long Time Issue with ethernet nvidia 750i forcedeth

Post by Freestate »

See if anyone knows I can do.
You see, since time immemorial, and using ubuntu based distros and now mint 16, it seems that some change made in the kernel or network administrator makes the ethernet connection drops with no pattern, funny thing is that the wifi dongle works perfectly, but ethernet network goes down randomly. It is a plate whose network chipset Nvidia Nforce 750i, the msi P7N-Platinum.
I thought that would be solved with any upgrade, but there is the problem since I bought the board, is a matter of years and many versions of ubuntu, mint back. Anyone know which may be due to, I've tried everything I've found over the network, change the network manager for wicd, other more modern kernels and even the latest 3.14 the problem remains.

you might be lucky if you update the bios of the motherboard
what is
tail -f /var/log/syslog
saying when the network connection is dropped? It might give a clue to the cause of the problem

Here i think is the same issue with another motherboard with similar nvidia sli chipset and a older kernel https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-8 ... art-0.html

well the nforce driver is the latest, there hasn't been any updates since 2010 so I doubt this problem will ever be fixed.
Checked a couple of the changes in kernel version and no sign of nforce so I don't think there will be a change anyway.
Sorry
