solved Cannot browse Windows shares from network

Hi all,

It was suggested that I post my problem in a more specific area like this.

I am running mint 15 with cinnamon.

I cannot browse windows shares from mint though my windows 7 machines can browse the mint shares. When I thry to browse a windows 7 share I get the error:

unable to mount the location
Failed to retrieve share list from server: Connection timed out

I have followed the checklist below without any success.

Please post the output of the following commands:
