I am using HP ProBook 440 G2 laptop. I have recently dual booted my laptop with Windows 8.1 and Linux Mint 17.1 Cinnamon 64-bit. As, I didn't have the facility, I neither checked my Ethernet connection nor used it after I installed Linux Mint. I used to use only WiFi. But, I got a problem with WiFi connectivity. The connection used to get lost frequently and couldn't reconnect. I used to reboot the system and get connected with the WiFi. So, someone suggested to create a file named "rtl8723be.conf" in "/etc/modprobe.d" and asked to write "options rtl8723be fwlps=0" in that file. That worked nice. But now, when I needed to use my Ethernet connection, it shows "Cable Unplugged" in the network settings
. But, it works fine in Windows. Before creating that file, I didn't know whether Ethernet worked because I never used it in Mint. So please, someone, help me out.I have tried the following commands and their outputs are given below:
