My new ASUS RT-N13U router won't work on Linux Mint 10

Postby beerbaron on Sun Oct 02, 2011 8:43 pm

Hi, I was wondering if anyone could help me get my router working correctly in Linux Mint. I just got it to be able to share my mobile internet connection and the router works just fine with my Xbox 360, my phone and an old Windows XP PC but when I try to browse the web (in any browser) through it on my Linux PC I can only load one or two pages before the connection drops out. It also fails to load the routers web interface (which loads without a hitch on my smartphone and Windows PC) every time with a "page not found" error. I've tried with both the built-in ethernet and a PCI card with the same result. Anyone have any ideas on how to get it working?

The motherboard has Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL-8169 Gigabit Ethernet (rev 10) built-in and the PCI card is an Accton Technology Corporation SMC2-1211TX (rev 10).

Thanks.

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

Could you please do the following things to give an interesting information:

Press ctrl + alt + t to open a terminal.
Now type:

Code: Select all
ping www.google.com

Afterwards open your browser and open two websites until the error occurs (web page not found...).

Go to the terminal and press ctrl+c to quit the ping and post the results here.

Yeah, sorry I can't give you any better info. I tried pinging Google and I got three responses of 64 bytes each from ber01s02-in-f103.le100.net and then it stopped.. Was able to load Google in firefox once too. At the same time xbox live kept working normally so I know it's not the router or my internet connection thats failing. I know that's not much to go on but I was hoping someone would know what to do about it.
