Netbook Remix

Post by Rob Loach »

Alhtough LXDE is awesome, what are your thought on using the Netbook Remix instead? I've been running it on my Eee for the past half year and have been loving it.

I installed the Netbook Remix on top of Linux Mint and, after a bit of configuration with the panels, got the following:

Image

Add the following to your sources:
deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/netbook-remix-team/ppa/ubuntu intrepid main

Run the following to install........
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install maximus netbook-launcher go-home-applet window-picker-applet metacity metacity-common libmetacity0

Make "netbook-launcher" run on startup and set the panel up so "Go Home Applet" is first, then Window Switcher, then Notification Area, and then Clock.

I see this is from last year. Can I do this on 9.10 UNR? I would love to have a mint remix edition!! :D

sevenX,

Check out this thread. It includes a fairly complete How-to on installing Mint 8 0n a netbook and turning it into an NBR lookalike.
