Fixed the patches so it doesn't cause the package to be rejected.
It's currently compiling on my PPA.

Well It's missing the extra emodules but you should be able to run the base e17.
I still have a few packages to do before they can be compiled.

Okay, Pei17 running on Mint 11 base is up. Writing you from a burned/downloaded iso. If you try it remember the 'profile' glitch but it goes away if you create a new user or install it. As you can see in the screenshot I moved it to the upper right corner. This is the 64 and will work on the 32 today. If you try, hope it works for you. Again you can re-install Mint packages in Sysnaptic.

Ok the extra emodules have been built on my PPA.
If you want to use Network Manager don't install emodules-all.
I also took the OpenOffice.org Quick Start emodule and rewrote it for LibreOffice.

Just a suggestion:
Why both of you, Merlwiz79 / xetaprime join forces to put out a Mint E17 Edition as i intend you are good developers
What's the need?
Just present the .isos 32/64 bit (Beta-RC) to Clem's appreciation and with the Clem's approval, then Linux Mint will
have a regular Mint's E17 Edition.

Truth be told I'm not a developer. Just a tweaker and I've decided at least for today to hold off on the mint based e17. Not that I didn't get both 32 and 64 working- and I could get the 64 to install from the iso but couldn't for the life of me get the 32 iso to install (grub issue). Also there is just a really long boot time... any way as I said I love to fiddle so maybe I'll try and tweak ubiquity and remastersys... ehh...

If y'all do try to get Clem to authorize an official E17 Linux Mint, I hope you base it upon Linux Mint Debian, because there would be much less work needed so you wouldn't have to start over every 6 months.

There is a too that we use to make Linux Mint ISOs.
It's called mintconstructor.
You just have to edit a few file by hand but that's easy to do.
It'll automatically make Ubiquity remove itself and other packages not needed.
You can even edit this app to make it remove other packages.
If you have a fast CPU it'll make the process of making an ISO faster by using more cores.

I would say it does both. On my eeePC netbook 1001PX it is extremely fast. And after startup with no other programs running, ram used is 76 MB. That is with Bodhi Linux and everything worked out of the box.

I like Bodhi a lot (not so much on its current LTS base only stance though Jeff & Co.'s work on its own repo + software packages are truly admirable) but this is shaping up to be a solid effort indeed.Superb screenies merlwiz79
Now just a bit more to lose that e17 brandings to Mint's and boy maybe we'll get a Minty E17 contender.

In terms of RAM utilization E17 is between Openbox/Fluxbox and LXDE/XFCE but it depends on what else is on the distro. E17 doesn't need hardware 3D for nice graphics so If a computer runs Mint 10 LXDE or Mint XFCE i should run Mint E17. You can try Bodhi (E17, Ubuntu based), Mint 10 LXDE (LXDE, Ubuntu based) or Mint XFCE (XFCE, Debian based) on that computer to test, if it works then a future Mint E17 should also work.
If it doesn't work try something lighter and faster like Crunchbang/Archbang, AntiX or Puppy.
EDIT: There is a E16 or E17 Puppy version.

I unloaded some of the modules I wasn't using and it's using
less than 130MB of RAM.(
gnome-system-monitor uses 4.6 MB)
I'm using GDM and I still have some things running that don't need to be.
You could use LXDM instead of GDM.
I'm using VirtualBox and have it's guest additions running too.
I also don't need Xfce Volume Daemon and mintUpdate in the startup apps.
Edit: I removed everything I didn't need from startup apps.
I'm now using
less than 110MB on a cold boot.

Merlwiz79, why not give us some Mint's E17 loving? Upload the .iso you built to a server and let the link here on the forums for download.
I guess Linux Mint's users can help with the tests. This way you can have a more consistent results to present the .iso to Clem's.

I don't plan on making an ISO.
Clem has stopped the Ubuntu based Xfce edition and made a Debian based one.
I'm sure he wouldn't want to start another Ubuntu or Debian based edition.
Also this is not really a stable base.
I created an Ubuntu PPA with the latest Enlightenment from SVN.
If you have Linux Mint 11 or Ubuntu 11.04 then you can use it.
