I don't know about naming standards, but there's too many versions around.
My opinion is for two versions:
Mint - Containing all the various desktops in a live DVD (choose a DE as a session before login). Based on Debian Stable with security updates and backported packages.
Fresh Mint - All the desktops in a live DVD but based on Debian Testing, so a rolling release.
Ditch the Ubuntu versions, or if you must have an Ubuntu version:
Mint Chew ('cos it chews through resources compared to the Debian version
) - All the desktops in a live DVD.
