Mint 12 better not use GDM instead of LightDM

GDM was ugly and is still ugly no matter how many themes and backgrounds are thrown at it. Heck, LXDM is better for certain needs.

Since the Ubuntu 11.10 and above codebase is using LightDM and is very pretty, please please please don't revert back to GDM for the Gnome 2.32 and Gnome 3 versions of Linux Mint 12. It is one less thing to backport and since the code is already there and ready, how about you just customize LightDM with your background and logo and call it a day?

I agree with you -though i prefer lxdm over lightdm.

New gdm3 is tightly integrated with nautilus in gnome3. This, in Mint 12, is probably a matter of taste -many dependencies upsetting me a bit  .
But especially for other editions (Xfce eg) this combination (new gdm3 asking for nautilus) means problems.

Nope, no GDM. Using Lightdm and Unity-Greeter. How about that?
