I am using Ubuntu 11.10 with Gnome shell and liking it - no flames pls - but there is no integration with the lightning calendar, thunderbirds add-on,in the date display. (center of top panel)
There is the possibility of integrating google calendars with this, but not lightning - there is a messy work around but its ugly.
Perhaps the devs could look at solving this for Mint 12 ?

There is a workaround for this here: http://dmtg.me.uk/2011/04/17/thunderbir ... n-gnome-3/

This is already known for a while (6 months at least from the bugreports), and it needs to be fixed either at Mozilla or GNOME. Not sure the Linux Mint team can handle this  Apparently it is up to the GNOME 3 code to accept Thunderbird as a source for calendar events (or up to those developers to submit a patch to GNOME 3). Perhaps check the FAQ or contact the developers of this add-on? https://www.mozilla.org/projects/calendar/lightning/

Thanks for the reply Vincent. This was the workaround I mentioned. I guess its up to the Gnome people, do you have a link to the bug report ?

I found several bugreports, but none at the Mozilla or GNOME websites. RedHat bugreport https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=689288.
