I now see that Calculator is added to Desklet collection. Would love to see the collection grow.
Few requests for developers to consider (all suggestions based on KDE Plasma widgets, no original thinking )

1. Comic strip viewer - Like xkcd comics, it will be good to have a viewer where Comic can be selected. Would love to see Calvin and Hobbes, Dilbert, PhD

• Dictionary - Simple English dictionary

• RSS Feed reader - Display title + some text of feed and ability to add xml urls in configuration

• Magic folder - TTo add add files to folders based on file extensions. Really helps me in cleaning my Downloads folder mess

Please +1 / add your favorite utilities you would like to add on desktop. (As Clem says, "KDE calls them Plasmoids, Android calls them Widgets, in Cinnamon they’re called “Desklets”. The same way you can add applets to your panel, you can add desklets to your desktop.")

What about a one-size-fits-all Conky style Desklet with all sorts of PC info available on it? Would save me having to learn how to use bloody Conky!

I was thinking of trying my hand at a quote-of-the-day desklet (I believe this exists for some other environments). I would use it, but I wonder if anyone else would...? This is just a preliminary idea of mine, I haven't looked in to create a Cinnamon desklet, do we have a guide for that? (I couldn't find it.) I've experience as a developer though, so I should be able to figure it out, right?

Guys i highly suggest you consider making a meme desklet!!!It would be killer.A desklet just like xkcd that allows to see the top featured memes from memecenter or similar!

I have already made an RSS feed reader applet. It should be pretty easy to fork this to produce a desklet too, since all the feed-reading code is in a separate JS file.

Would like CPU frequency as well as load, as they're not always the same

I will be glad if someone can build an applet which indicates whether webcam is on or not. My webcam is USB powered and if an application is accessing it stealthily I would like to know. Insprired by chrome doing it in browser tabs.

Hi, everybody,
with the demise of the Screenlets (no longer compatible with Ubuntu 16.10 nor Linux Mint 18), I think it will be a blessing if someone could develop an applet (or, I don't know, maybe port it from KDE) of the FolderView widget / screenlet. I would do so myself, but I don't have too many programming skills.
Anyway, I think this will help a lot of users who used that particular screenlet untill now.

Id love to see the Lyrics Screenlet ported to Cinnamon.

If Winamp and Minilyrics were ported to Linux, my music world would be complete.

Yes I do. And coupled with Minilyrics it becomes a great music experience. Minilyrics syncs a lyric file with the song. Actually, you get the lyrics, put them in the lyric editor, and sync them as the song plays. Then tweak the timing as needed. When you play the song, the lyrics will show depending on how you like to view them. There is a karaoke mode which, to me, is as annoying as he!!. I show the original album art as a background to the Minilyrics window (I also embed the original album art into the MP3 file) and have the lyrics show in sync with the song. It's actually quite enjoyable.

Unfortunately, they're both Windows-only so I'll be saying a permanent goodbye to my wonderful music experience. Oh well...

Thank you MajorMuff, I did. I just haven't got around to doing the deed yet. I currently use Audacious and it's not bad. It's on a Dell laptop so I'm not too interested in making this the be all and end all of my computer needs. On the other hand, my desktop is coming along so I'll probably install a few different audio players and choose the one I like best.
