I agree that the new logo shows maturity and elegance. It is sleeker too, though the current logo is very nice as well. As far as which one I like better, I cannot choose simply because I like both of them the same. However, as far as what to do with the new logo...I say we wait until Linux Mint 7 (whatever it's name shall be) and use the new logo in it. Then update the site/forum/etc. accordingly. The new logo represents what Linux Mint is more so than the current logo. This is just my opinion though.

Both of them are very elegant.
I have a slight preference for the original one.

I might point out Pepsi as a company that rebranded. I don't think it should be done often, but I do like to see progress. I would really like to see a major overhaul of Mint by the time a long term release comes out. Mint looks good, but it could look better. It needs a nice, simple logo. Simplicity is actually the reason I went to Mint, and if it can pull it off even more, that'd be great.

I don't mean to offend, but neither logo is adequate.

In my view we are competing directly with Windows, Mac, and Ubuntu. All have a superior logo. All have a simpler, cleaner design.

I don't think Mint needs to rebrand. It just needs to simplify, clarify, and evolve. Look at the competition, streamline, and then dominate them.

Mint is already a better OS. It's faster, easier, more solid, more feature filled out of the box. It just works.

Step One I think is losing the "Linux". Windows isn't DOS Windows. Mac OS isn't BSD Mac. You know why? Nobody gives a #&%$. Just make it Mint. Then riff off the original logo, which is not bad actually, lose the L, give it a little more contrast, simplify it. Make a new slogan. I don't know how to do vector art, or I'd do one right now. Maybe I'll sketch one up and gimp it.

I love the orgiinal, looks more like a "real logo".
Where as the oher just looks like a banner for like an older linux mint.

AlsoI feel if mint ever does some kind of store thing the LM Logo could be out on better, like the Unbuntu logo thingy.

Just over all I see no reason to change

This site looks pretty good:

http://www.mint.com/

But I'm sure that is their IP. Still, it looks minty!

I'm all for losing the word "Linux" from Linux Mint. It's just unnecessary as the OS evolves IMHO. "MintOS" sounds so much mintier!
They'll all look at me and say,
Hey look at him! I'll never live that way.
But that's okay -
They're just afraid to change.
