Mint12 KDE 64Bit: Running Video File from Network share

Postby routaran on Wed May 09, 2012 2:52 pm

Hello,
I have a windows 2008 box that is hosting several video files over the network. I am able to connect to the share and access the data that is stored there. However, when ever I play a file from the share, Mint makes a local copy of the file first and then runs the video.

Some of the video files are tiny so it doesnt really make a difference for those but there are other files that are large and can take several minutes to copy.
Is there a way for me to get my linux system to play the files directly off the share without having to make a local copy first?

Thanks
