i need to somehow fully hide my ip address i used hotspot shield on windows and was playing a game and some kid got my ip and started DDos attacking it
how can i hide my ip free and safely and have it on a fast connection im new to linux btw

Erm, if you are talking about your internet IP, that is set by your ISP not linux. To masquerade it I imagine you would have to pay for a commercial VPN service or something. Is this what you are asking about?

These are through PPTP so you just add the settings to your network connection.

AFAIK, PPTP isn't really that save, you do want OpenVPN.

I think you are using hotspot shield free version. Always remember this note that free vpns are not as much secure as the paid vpn so if you go with the paid account of vpn then I am sure you can easily hide your ip. So i will suggest you to try any best paid vpn service to keep you ip secure.
