hi,
I installed Linux Mint 14 yesterday. from that moment i cant get get in to the Internet connection. I tried both wired and wireless connections. i set my Proxy correctly in network proxy. I am sure that i don't have any problem with the connection. I checked it in the terminal by using the command ping www.google.com. It works correctly. But i cant get in to the network by using browsers. I think it would be some settings problem. But iam compleatly new to Linux mint.... what can i do? please help me.

Hello, irfanhrt.

It is great that the Mint system itself can connect to the internet through your proxy correctly.
Now you may have to instruct a few applications to use your systemwide proxy settings.
Firefox (and other browsers, too) is one these applications.
Launch Firefox. Go to Edit => Preferences => Network => Connections = Settings: 3rd option from top "Use the system-wide proxy settings".
As you will notice Firefox can be configured independently with respect to proxy settings and the default is to use no proxy at all. This is why you have to convince the fox to use your system-wide proxy settings.

Another program which can and must be configured separately is e.g. Synaptic Package Manager. I would not be amazed if the Software Manager needed to be told about the proxy as well, and Mint Update, too, I guess.

Kind regards,
Karl
