I have Mint 15 installed on a Panasonic Toughbook CF-52, with Windows 8 as a secondary OS. I am having an issue with setting the priority of the network adaptors accessing the internet. The ethernet adaptor is connected to a hardware device that provides internet access through a cellular modem and the Wifi adaptor connects to my home wifi network and can access the internet through a DSL connection. I want to be able to specify that all internet traffic should only go through the Wifi adaptor even if the ethernet adaptor is connected.
Currently if both adaptors are connected it will always use the ethernet connection to access the internet. It is only if I disconnect the ethernet will it fall back to the Wifi. I really only want to use the ethernet for tunnelling into the hardware it is connected to. How can I switch the priority of the connections so all internet traffic goes out the Wifi unless the Wifi is disconnected. In Windows 8 I simply set the metric of the connections to the priority I wanted and this is working smoothly. How can I do the same in Mint and have it survive a restart of the computer?
