Can't browse the internet while connected to VPN

Hi,

I have searched this site and Google and I can find other people with the same problem but no one seems to have the resolution.

I have a pptp vpn connection that allows me to connect to a domain but while it is connected I can't browse the web. When I change the routing setting to only send applicable traffic to the network I can browse the net but I can't access all of the systems that I need to on the vpn network.

I have mschap and mschap v2 with all options enabled.

What I really want to do is send everything for that domain through the VPN and everything else through my normal internet connection.

The VPN works correctly on my Windows 7 Laptop but not my Windows 8 desktop.
