Windows 7 printing to Linux 16 connected printer

Postby Mattestion on Tue Apr 29, 2014 5:42 pm

Hello

I have been using Linux 16 for about a week and really like it. Setting up my Samsung ML-1915 printer was a breeze. I've been trying now to share the printer with a Windows 7 laptop. I had the printer shared before when I was running Vista on my PC (same computer the printer is connected to). I did tons of research and tried all sorts of suggestions, using CUPS, making modifications to the cupsd.conf file, trusting the SSL certificate of CUPS on the Win7 machine, using Samba, trying to connect by IPP but nothing works. It's frustrating because these instructions seem to work for everyone else but not for me. So please feel free to ask any questions so that this hopefully can be resolved, otherwise I'll have to boot into Windows whenever someone needs to print from the laptop.

P.S. While I may be new to Linux, I'm not computer illiterate. I'm usually very good at following instructions and troubleshooting. But this one escapes me!
