how to control a win 8.1 pc via mint 17 pc

hi,
with my linux mint laptop, i see my min 8 computer in the network
but cant access : a password is required, or/and have to write a complicated address?? (caja)
more than that : i need to control the distant win 8 pc, and the sound must go the the local sound card, the win 8 one i mean, because it is connected to the stereo, (and has no screen nor keyboard)
is it a simple piece of software for doing this?

I've been using Teamviewer for access back and forth from my computer and my mother's computer. The only reason I am using Teamviewer is that the ports needed for TightVNC are blocked somewhere in the system, and my ISP hasn't figured it out yet. If you just need terminal access, try SSH. I use TightVNC and SSH to access my Raspberry Pi in the other room.
