I installed TightVNC on my Windows 7 Home Premium machines and now I can get the Remote Desktop on my Linux Mint 10 RC laptop to appear on my Windows 7 desktop. I installed the TightVNC server and viewer on the Linux Mint machine from the package manager. I am not really sure that TightVNC has added anything at all to the Mint machine since all I did actually was enable remote desktops in the ordinary list of applications. I never saw tightvnc server or view appear anywhere in the list of software applications in MENU after the install. In other words: I never set up the TightVNC server on the Linux Mint machine but the remote desktop works.
So, while TightVNC is working on the Windows machines, I don't think it is doing anything on the Linux Mint machine. Would a Windows 7 machine with TightVNC start a remote desktop session on a Linux Mint 10 RC machine without any additional software installed on the Linux Mint machine?
TightVNC not adding anything?

Re: TightVNC not adding anything?
if so then you don't have to configure the server like you do under XP or Windows 7, which is odd.
