OK, you install network-manager-vpnc, and then you have to go to Network Manager and click the plus button. Then you can select "VPN", and you get a dialog to configure the connection. But there is no way to import a pcf file. There are at least three passwords, and three sets of nomenclatures. If you have a pcf file, the nomenclature in the pcf file will be different than the nomenclature in the network manager, and the nomenclature in the vpnc configuration files is different from both.
I found this
http://baheyeldin.com/cisco/converting- ... ormat.htmlwhich worked well enough to produce a vpnc configuration file. I still have to enter two passwords which apparently can't be stored anywhere.
And I can't get network manager-based vpn configurations to work at all.
On Ubuntu it just worked. I imported my pcf file and after that I was able to launch vpn from the network applet without any passwords or anything. So there must be a way to make it work smoothly.
