i instaled mint 7 from vista.....

Boot to the Mint disk and use the "Guided - use entire disk" option when you see it.

That option will format your entire hard drive and install Mint.

You should back up all of your data before you do that of course. A full install will remove everything currently on your system.

If you want Mint to run a lot faster than in mint4win then dual boot. It's no more dangerous than a full disk install. And you keep your old OS (Vista).

do a complete backup of window$ partition (with acronis true image like or partimage as an old remembrance) on an external drive and then enjoying a green full linux install while forgetting the $$ machine !

I'd suggest you don't use the entire disk for your Mint. Make a /home -partition instead for all you files and settings. It makes re-installing any Linux much easier!

10gb should do for just the Mint installation.

Moving the /home partition onto a separate partition really helps to localise damage, as a filesystem corruption only kills Linux Mint, not the files stored on there.
