It's been brought to my attention that the mintTools' menu entries' comments are not internationalised (viewtopic.php?f=165&t=27732). With Gloria enabling the comments in mintMenu by default, this becomes really obvious, so please translate the following strings, stating your language (and language code if possible):
Name=mintBackup
GenericName=Home Directory Backup Tool
Comment=Make a backup of your home directory
Name=mintDesktop
GenericName=Desktop configuration tool
Comment=Configure your desktop
Name=mintInstall
GenericName=Software Manager
Comment=Install new applications
Name=mintNanny
GenericName=Domain Blocker
Comment=Block specific Internet traffic
Name=mintUpdate
GenericName=Update Manager
Comment=Update installed applications
Name=mintUpload
GenericName=File Uploader
Comment=Upload files to the Internet
EDIT: these are the GenericName (top) and Comment (bottom). In the mintMenu, the Comment is displayed by default in Gloria, with GenericName being used for those with a missing comment. In order to follow gnome conventions, the GenericName should be shown alongside the app name in future (e.g. mintUpload File Uploader, like Firefox Web Browser) Note that e.g. the mintUpload ones aren't created yet, but will be arriving in Helena, so I added them here to reduce the translation effort. These strings should only need translating once per language, rather than every new release as in the main mintTool translations.
EDIT 2: added mintDesktop comment from scs You can put it in any format you see fit, as it's all got to be added manually by hand on a per tool basis (rather than per language basis) anyway.
EDIT 3: changed format to as below.
