[solved] mintUpload 3.3.3: button internationalisation

Postby scs on Sun Jun 14, 2009 7:30 am

The Upload button is not internationalised.
There is no entry for that in the .po translation file.

Are buttons normally translated? e.g. OK / Close / Cancel? I've just checked the glade file, and the string is marked as translatable, perhaps there's a gtk translation package available. Either way, you can track this progress at http://github.com/emorrp1/mintupload/issues/#issue/41

Yes, there are button translations in all mint .po files. Obviously not for the general OK and Cancel, but the special buttons are surely translated.
E.g. in the messages.po of mintBackup:
- line 103: "Backup"
- line 115: "Restore"
IMHO the Upload button should be translated too.

Besides the Upload button it would be desirable to internationalise both the menu item "Upload" in the right-click menu of a file and the appearing hint - "Upload to the Internet to share it easily" - in the status line of Nautilus.

Well, the problem is that the nautilus actions are not handled by the mintUpload package (though see also http://github.com/kinkerl/mintupload-gnome/tree/master ), and it's more difficult to internationalise too, but I know what you mean, so I'll see what we can do.

hi
take a look at: http://github.com/kinkerl/mintupload-gnome/tree/master
this (unofficial) packages sets the necessary configuration for nautilus-actions to display the right-click menu.
the actual configuration file (http://github.com/kinkerl/mintupload-gn ... ad.schemas ) has support for multiple languages.
the localization for the nautilus-actions can be done and managed in this package/file

ps: mkay...on second thought: i think i just repeated your comment emorrp ;)

Thanks both of you for the effort guys, but I think I will wait for the official solution, if any.
For me personally the English words are understandable, I just thought of the other non English-speaking Mint fans. :)

kinkerl: well, you detailed how it could actually be done

scs: it's likely that kinkerl's package will be the default for Helena, when it's been cleaned up a little, as clem seems interested in making it easy to mintify ubuntu, and this is one of the necessary methods. But sure, wait for it to at least reach a v1!
