[fixed by newer Brasero] K9 & Brasero not working

Postby wordsmyth on Mon Jul 20, 2009 3:50 am

Hi there: Just downloaded Mint7...and find Brasero and K9 copy no longer working. They worked fine with Ubuntu. Now the blank disk is rejected with error message the instant burning is supposed to commence. And what's happened to my work spaces??? They're not present in the tray...but they pop up for a fraction of a second on the screen when I'm moving the cursor on the desktop!!!. This is why newbies stick to Windows ...
In case this helps, here's the burn log from Brasero, including Simulation: Any ideas what's gone wrong????

Which Ubuntu did they work on, with the Brasero application..
More context needed
And what's happened to my work spaces
Did you try right-click panel and add to panel,
    Windows list
    Windows selector
    Workplace switcher
    Show desktop
    Notification area..
--any of which might help in locating windows/workplaces..

It helped, but I was aware of that problem/bug already, and I only needed the error msg, not the whole dump

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sour ... bug/397412
Try xfburn, it doesn't use the same library to write a disk as Brasero does (Wodim)
In Terminal
    apt search xfburn
p xfburn - CD-burner application for Xfce Desktop Env
--its in the Mint/Ubuntu repositories
http://www.xfce.org/projects/xfburn/
Xfburn is a simple CD/DVD burning tool based on libburnia libraries. It can blank CD-RWs, burn and create iso images, as well as burn personal compositions of data to either CD or DVD.

The workspaces thing is a feature: it only happens when you rotate the scroll wheel on the desktop, and you can disable it in compiz settings.
I have no idea about the Brasero thing, as I can't reproduce it, but you might try posting in the support section first, as there are more people there who may be able diagnose the problem.
If you have a question that has been answered and solved, then please edit your original post and put a [SOLVED] at the end of your subject header
Hint - use a google search including the search term site:forums.linuxmint.com

Thanks for the replies on my post. The Brasero burning remains a problem, but the WORKSPACE problem may also be solved: I'm using the touchpad at present, and I seem to recall the workspaces appeared when I was using my mouse. Will check that out when I return to my home base...
And I downloaded the trial version of Nero Linux, to use as a check - and it burns disks perfectly. So I have a real problem with Brasero at present ...

Thanks again, people
