Screen goes blank sometimes

I'm running LM 12 LXDE on a Dell Latitude D620. I notice that sometimes when the screensaver activates it quickly turns blank. Or turns blank when I go from the screensaver back to the desktop. Weird. Anyone experienced this as well? Thanks.
