Mint 9 LXDE remote login

Post by drewkeller »

I use NoMachine's NX software for remote access to the Linux box. I am able to start up specific programs by inserting the appropriate startup command. However, I haven't been able to figure out how to start the LXDE desktop. Under Gnome (gdm) with LXDE also installed, I have previously used the command 'startlxde' but that doesn't seem to exist in Mint 9 LXDE. How else would I do it?

Try 'startmintlxde' and see what happens.

Thanks, that was the trick.
The first time I tried it, it timed out, but it worked on the second try. The second time, I included the full path (/usr/bin/startmintlxde) -- kind of doubt that would make any difference though.

Is there an analogous command for xfce? I can connect but I don't get the Mint theme, just the mouse.
