Added to and rewrote some of the stuff - especially Section 3 on the Desktop and Section 11 on the Menu, Internet Links and .desktop files.

Yes, thanks for that. It will be useful to point new users to instead of having to send multiple links to various topics on this and the main ubuntu forums.
A fact is a simple statement that everyone believes. It is innocent, unless found guilty. A hypothesis is a novel suggestion that no one wants to believe. It is guilty, until found effective.

Nice job Doug! Excellent site, make sure you back it up regularly; I lost my website since I didn't keep working on it for like 3 months. The free webhosting services always seem to come with a catch *sigh* :(

Oh, you have a minor mistake here: "To illustrate how to use lxmed (Main Menu Editor), suppose you have installed Faststone Image Editor in doug/programs/faststone image editor and the .exe is fastsone ie.exe. Open the Main Menu Editor, highlite Graphics in the left column and click on New item."

Thank you, people. You made my day! I have no special causes (although I do feel LXDE is underrated, and perhaps I propagandize for it too much) or need for ego-stroking. I'm just old and have trouble remembering where I saw something. So I keep a long written list. It only seemed reasonable to make the list public. I recognize that most people, especially newcomers to Linux, have only a limited amount of duck-duck-go energy, and so having a lot of information in one place is very useful. Corrections, constructive comments and potential additions are welcome, as I hope to keep it an ongoing project. My email is gmail, and use your imagination to guess the name. :D

Well, you're not the only one who propagandizes LXDE; I love LXDE for its ability to transform itself into a simple looking UI or a magnificent and dazzling looking UI. I took my 1.4GHz Intel core-solo laptop to college and some guy was like "Hey! Is that a Mac?" and I said "No, actually it's Linux and its way damm better than Mac and its FREE!" He couldn't believe it that something so elegant could run on a crap laptop! (my laptop is REALLY old and crappy looking; it's from 2002).

I even printed out the stickers that say "Linux inside" and "Linux Mint 9 Compatible" and glued them over the Windows XP logo!
