Startup programs

Postby guilherme_kenzo on Thu Mar 15, 2012 8:19 am

I tried everything, but I just couldn't add a program to the startup list... How can I do that in mint lxde 12? The desktop sessions settings only allows enabling programs that are already in the list....
Thank you!

So which ones get executed first or what is the order of execution?
/etc/xdg/autostart, /home/user/.config/autostart or the /etc/xdg/lxsession/Mint-LXDE/autostart?

I am using Mint 12 LXDE just in case you look and don't see the last one on yours.

My experience has been that /etc/xdg/lxsession/Mint-LXDE/autostart has always been the relevant one: http://douwil7.100webspace.net/linux/Tuning.html#16.

Hope you can help. Wanna make sure Update Manager does not auto-launch on start-up and plant itself in my systray.

I've checked:
1. Update Manager Preferences. No apparent option there.
2. /etc/xdg/lxsession/Mint-LXDE/autostart - No entry there.

No doubt there's a simple fix? TIA.

For Mint 12 LXDE check /etx/xdg/autostart. See this for more info.

Thanks nunol. That did the trick. :)

As root, rename 'mintupdate.desktop' file in /etc/xdg/autostart folder, as 'mintupdate.desktop.bk'. Then reboot to check.

IMHO this M$-like auto-launch update manager thingy should be ditched in future. Any other users feel the same way?
