Asus EeePC 900 Touchpad Key

Postby Eridanus7 on Thu Apr 12, 2012 12:03 pm

After a win XP update killed our Asus Eee PC 900, Mint12-LXDE was installed.

This was not without some problems though. This post may help others avoid several hours of googling and searching forums.

1) The left key on the touchpad does not work, or is very very intermittent.

Hardware is ETPS/2 Elantech Touchpad

One will find some misleading posts, such as;-

The "macintosh mouse" thing is actually the software that allows you to emulate the middle mouse button using the left and right ones. Despite the name. This software works in all the platforms linux supports.

The above comment may have been valid in the past but certainly is not for the EeePC 900 & Mint12 LXDE.

One solution to the problem can found at;-

This restored the left button operation.

2) There was a noticeable increase in heat generated and this was accompanied by a faster battery drain.
It appears that the fstab file might need some modifications to account for the 900's SSD's

Anyone know if the 900 SSD's support trim ?
