Having browsed the topics related to this, I did not find an answer. I believe that I have successfully set a root password in the terminal per the related posts in the forum. However when I try to login in at the login screen as root, I get a message saying that administrator cannot login from this screen. How can I login as root to the cinnamon gui?
Yes, I know this is a bad idea, but I really want to know how to so it. Thank you.

In "Login Window", in "Security" tab, choose "Allow local system administrator login". You will be able to login as root.
