Problem a -

I quite happily installed Mint 14 RC Cinnamon last night, no problem installing whatsoever. My problem arose when I rebooted and needed to log in. xorg didnt seem to start automatically, this isnt a huge problem as i can log in and startx, but lets say in the future my lovely girlfriend wants to go on my desktop and look and pictures of cats or bunnies, she will be a little lost with a black screen and a blinking cursor. How do I automate the xorg start up? Is it a case of I dont have a login manager installed yet? or do I need to run a command to get it to be used on start up?

Problem b -

After logging in an running startx the desktop worked beautifully, I must say the dev team have done a fantastic job on this! But as is best practice (imho) i desided to run and update, I tried this 2 ways. First off through the little pop up that appeared on the bottom right that told me there were updates. This returned an error saying that they had been ignored. Then I desided to do it the real way (i hate gui tasks that can be done in terminal) i ran the update through terminal and the same error. I thought to myself that this could be the fact that it is an RC so repos may not be 100% ready yet. But just to put my mind at rest could someone please let me know what the deal is.

Much love
