application boarders

I have LM13. I installed the updates the os wanted me to install and I rebooted the pc. After the pc started though, the application boarders were gone. I have looked on the net for solutions to retrieving the app boarders, but none of the solutions I have found work for me.

I could always reinstall LM13 from the cd, however, if at all possible, I would rather not do that.

How they are "gone"?
