Mint 14 FREEZES on first boot frequently

Hello,
Im thinking of uninstalling my first linux try and get back to Windows 7 because of this huge problem.
Although I can use the system after booting again it's dissappointing to see the system crashing on a simple boot.
Ive heard a lot of linux and thought it was a bit stable.
I don't know if there is a way to solve this, but if anyone can it will help a lot, since i need use the octave software for my work and it works well on linux.
